Anchor

Awake to the illusion
a breath-taking intrusion
behind the well-kept lies
see the hope that dies.

Teach me, beseech me,
turn back to reach me
standing in the whisper of a sigh
unable or unwilling to try.

An anchored soul will turn to ember
they forget what you remember
release it to the sea
for what will be, will be.

If you do, then love will find you
it's okay, let it remind you
truth cannot be lies
be fearless and be wise
break free and you will rise.

You

Don't hide away, stay
just this way
breaking walls
standing tall.

Don't cower behind
that truth you find
between the pieces
love releases.

Don't let go of this good
thing that could
heal your heart
and soul
be you, be brave, be bold.

Homesick

If I could make it mine,
this thing I can't define.
I'd kiss the clouds just as the mountains do,
then quickly make my way back down to you.

I'd walk barefoot by the sea,
seek the shade of that almond tree.
Revel in the marvel of the sun,
then right back to your open arms I'd run.

I would bargain with the birds,
in the heartbeat of my words.
To sing with them a melody so true,
echoing the love I feel for you,
if I could make it mine, that's what I'd do.

Season greetings

Summer has no more to say,
for the moment, gone away.

Time has to move and so do we,
wait one more second, you will see.

The script of life has to unfold,
in timeless fashion, bright and bold.

Wind shifting with the falling leaves,
look around you, if you don't believe.

Welcome soon, the winter sky,
lazy days that pass us by.

Colors and emotions of each season,
different celebrations, countless reasons.

Unspoken truth

A few years ago, someone told me I was the strongest person they had ever met. As they spoke, I began to question in my mind everything they said. Strong is the last word I would ever use to describe myself, the more I questioned the more I realized that I had an untouchable aura about me. Though at heart I was welcoming and warm I was also private and distant. I could pull inward at the drop of a dime, tuning out the world around me without hesitation. I also realized that to her, I appeared to be firmly grounded in who I was and what I was about but that was far from the truth.

If I am to be truly honest, I have always been fixed in a state of flux, bopping back and forth between doubt and assurance. My days are often filled with shadows of longing and my nights, whispers of yesterdays. I have never been able to dream in the normal sense, when I close my eyes, I drift into profoundly vivid and oftentimes tragic scripts. I daydream to compensate for the hopelessness that sleep often time brings and I write to release its grip. My greatest desire is to truly live but unless I forcibly catch my breath by looking up and out, I find myself drifting through, existing. On the outside for some reason others see a rock, solidly rooted, unmovable, unshakable, sound. But in reality, I am but a grain of sand caught in the gust of a windstorm. My fear is not the fall once the wind stills but rather what follows the landing.

Will I find my footing?
Will I finally end up where I was always meant to be?
Or will I simply, by design, by fate, end up again, in a loop of yesterdays?
God knows but does not share.

You are probably wondering why I am sharing this with you now, so I will tell you.

Today has been a day riddled with self-doubts and as I waded my way through, reminding myself of who I am and what it all means I came upon a quote from a deceased actor. I will not repeat the quote but the essence of it was a desperate search for purpose in the midst of despair and it shook me.

I realize that everyone has doubts, fears and struggles but holding them in can be detrimental. So, I am urging anyone who feels surrounded by darkness. Please, find a safe space to land. Though the path you seek may not always be clearly visible, it exists beyond this moment, one foot in front of the other is the only way to get there. Know that today will soon be tomorrow and it too will become yesterday, so do not dwell in it. It may be fixed but it is not unmovable, give it your best and give yourself permission to release it, because it is merely one page and your life is not meant to be a short story.

With Love,

Our Moon

Did the moon seem closer to you this week?

It did to me, for the first time that I can ever recall the Moon was low enough in the morning sky that I was able to see it as I drove to work. It felt as though it was driving alongside me. It was the strangest most beautiful thing I have ever experienced and as you might expect, it got me thinking.

How incredible is it that though the constellation changes depending on where we are in the world, we all see the same moon.

It is the light of our nights and the usher of our mornings; it is, even when we are not. Unwavering in its purpose. It does not care who we are or where we are from, it shines for us all requiring nothing in return.
I know that scientifically there is much more to the moon than that but do me a favor, forget the other stuff and look up for just one second.

Are you as captivated as I am?
We are after all, looking at the same blessing.

Sweet Dreams World.

10 Stanzas 100 Reasons

After reading this you may think I cannot add, but if you look a little deeper, you'll understand.

10 reasons I'm stoic,
10 reasons I cry,
10 reasons my heart wants to do or to die.

10 reasons I'm bold,
10 reasons I'm shy,
10 reasons my questions begin with a why.

10 reasons their voices,
10 reasons my pain,
10 reasons I find myself out in the rain.

10 reasons in darkness,
10 reasons I dance,
10 reasons I will never leave it to chance.

10 reasons I'm humble,
10 reasons I'm proud,
10 reasons from silence my thoughts become loud.

10 reasons I stand up,
10 reasons I fall,
10 reasons my journey shall always recall.

10 reasons advancing,
10 reasons retreat,
10 reasons my whole life has been bittersweet.

10 reasons for mending,
10 reasons to break,
10 reasons that find me at dawn wide awake.

10 reasons I hold back,
10 reasons I shout,
10 reasons my heart has to let it all out.

10 reasons I've crumbled,
10 reasons I pray,
10 reasons I've made it through just one more day.

Laughter - written 11/30/2024

I found myself enveloped in laughter,
dancing in the warmth of time.
Living as though I had no tomorrow,
waiting for the clock to chime.

I found myself loving the seconds,
filled with the faces I saw.
My emotions vividly raw.

A sparkle of hope ever fleeting,
a girl on a rooftop dreaming.
A whisper of days long before,
hopeful for peace, nothing more.

I heard my voice in an echo,
deep inside my soul.
My heart sang out loudly,
fearlessly and bold.

A stampede of emotions,
in the hush of my breath.
I have lived before my death!

Aware of the tipping scale,
all the things meant to derail.
But here in this present surprise,
right before my very eyes.

The scale had found her balance,
released from the tide before.
I in awe and wonder,
simply could not beg for more.

From eyes fixed, overflowing,
with gratitude of now.
A heart that beats with pleasure,
before the final bow.

No longer still, but dancing.
from bitter time to sweet.
Savoring this moment,
refusing to retreat.

Tomorrow may be vengeful,
yesterday was that for sure.
But this small moment tells me,
that there is so much more.

So to the broken and the weary,
whenever you are weak.
Trust me it's not over,
if you muster the courage to seek.

You'll find the tides that push you,
are a fragment of the sea.
And though they may surround you,
they have to set you free.

So seek out love and laughter,
in darkness do not dwell.
and before the chime, not after,
narrate your story well.

Fun with facts.

Did you know that on October 17th in the year 1933, Albert Einstein emigrated to the United States?
He was born on March 14th, 1879, and he died on April 18th, 1955.

Did you notice anything about those dates? I did, if you add 3+14+18+7+9 (his birth date) and if you add 4+18+19+5+5 (the date of his death) they both equal 51.

What are the odds?

Choices

If not up, down, smile, frown, hope, despair. So, tell me, where will you go from here?

I am painfully aware that sometimes the hardest choice to make for you is the one that makes the most sense to an observer. So why is it so difficult to do? Your guess is as good as mine I suppose because the truth is, for every person the reason behind each choice is different.

Have you ever found yourself in such a quandary? If so, how did you move beyond it?

I am watching as one of my children stands at such a crossroad, still, and unable or unwilling to proceed. I don't think that pushing is the way to go because as the saying goes "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink". So instead, I have suggested and prayed but I suspect that I am not the one who needs to pray, so what do I do now?

Sit still and wait, plant seeds and hope, maybe muster the resolve to look away, letting the chips fall where they may. The problem is, in this scenario I am the observer so my choice, though potentially impactful is ultimately irrelevant. My child is the one who must choose and that is the stalemate at hand. It is not for me to work through all the possible moves and counter moves because this is not my life and I do not have to live with the outcome. So, for now, I will remain the observer and ever-present supporter. Not because I am certain that this is the best option but rather because I am hopeful that my choice will give my child what he needs to make the best choice for him.

And yes, I'll keep praying.

Mischief

As old as I am there are moments when I am no more than a child at heart.

Today I convinced some of my co-workers to help me inflate approximately 50 balloons to put in our boss' office so when he returned from his meeting, he would have to wade through them to get to his desk. When the moment of truth arrived, I just listened. It was so satisfying to hear him laugh out loud when he opened his office door. I know, it was a silly, non-professional thing to do but honestly, it was so much fun.

Which brings me to my question. When was the last time you made someone laugh or for that matter, the last time someone made you laugh?

Take a second and think about it, if I was a betting woman I would bet you just smiled, maybe even laughed, guess what, that is what makes it worthwhile.

As we get older, we have so many reasons not to laugh, so many things that consume our time and steal our joy but if we choose to purposefully create memorable and joyous moments, for ourselves and those around us, nothing, not even time can steal them from us.

I hope you had a laugh out loud moment today.

Time: Chronos or Kairos

Life...

Clock winds without restore
Heart beats through
Revolving like an open door
Once upon a view
Nothing less, nothing more
One thing is true
Same can never manifest into something new.

Live...

Kindle the fire
Awake in your dream
Ignite that desire
Revealed like a beam
One light glowing in the night sky
Surely, it's worth it to try.

Who we are

Shall we stroll upon the shore,
soak up the sun and more.
Feel the breeze upon our face,
seize the day in steady pace.

Shall we breathe in deep,
fall soundly asleep.
Then dream a little dream,
without tears, without scream.

Shall we dance upon the grass,
let our youthful wonder last.
Then explore without tire,
hear our heartbeats on fire.

Shall we listen to the birds,
as their song become words.
Will we understand it all,
as our future selves recall.

Maybe then we all will see,
who we're truly meant to be.
Ever culture, every place.
Every smile, every face.

So, I'm reaching out my hand,
words I hope you understand.
We are more than dust and rain,
more than triumph, more than pain.
More than time, more than space,
we are one... the human race.

Shield or Shelter

Who would you give up your shield to shelter?

Strange question right, then let me put it this way, who would you give your umbrella to?

It may seem like there are no parallels between these two questions, but if you think about it, the context is the same. In both questions there are 2 obvious facts, the first is that you are protected and the second is that someone else is not. Whether that protection is emotional or physical is irrelevant the correlation is the choice to sacrifice.

If you're a good parent then I am sure you just said, without hesitation, your child or children. If you have a close friend, you may have said your friend. But how about a stranger? Would you give your umbrella in the midst of a heavy downpour to a stranger who has none?

Keep in mind, I am not judging, just asking.

I ask this question because it was the question I asked myself this morning, I'm honestly not sure why it came to mind, it just did. The funny thing is, I already know my answer, I would give up my umbrella to anyone who needed it. Not because I am kind, or good, or even a Christian, my motives are more complex than that.

I would give up my umbrella because I believe it is better to give than to receive, because it makes me happy to quietly do the unexpected. But mostly, I would give up my umbrella because I know what it's like to walk in the rain hoping for the sun.

Though my motives maybe idealistic or childish, depending on how you look at it. Imagine for a moment that I gave my umbrella unknowingly to someone weathering a storm far beyond my imagination. Who knows the impact that small act might have on that person in the midst of their storm. I'd like to think that my choice to shelter rather than shield would give them that moment of peace they so desperately need as they wait for the sun.

Still, that might just be wishful thinking on my part. But as I said before, no judgement, just asking.

May you always find shelter when you need it, have a wonderful day world.

Such a beautiful song

Have you ever heard a song that toughed your heart?

I recently came across a song that was released 7 years ago that did just that. Though there is a language barrier, it spoke directly to my heart. So, I wanted to say out loud to the writers and singers of this beautiful song, you have left an indelible mark on this old woman.

Thank you BTS for sharing your beautiful song Mikrokosmos with the world.

Unlock

Tell the truth right from the start,
not before things fall apart.

Share your fears without the lies,
all you keep behind your eyes.

Where you've failed and every wish,
your misfortunes and your bliss.

Tell it all so they will see,
who you are and hope to be.

Seek the courage to be true,
find the heart to see it through.

Break the wall down day by day,
some will go and some will stay.

Know the truth won't always set you free,
and what is meant to be, is meant to be,
but you are the keeper of the key.
