Did you hear the door slam?
every bit of who I am.
Hopelessly exposed, through and through,
fragile these pieces, old and new.
Let it be the winds cold cry,
for the truth we can't deny.
I see you in the light just as you are,
so close, undoubtedly so far.
Brick by brick a wall that stands,
shaped by words and built by hands.
Still, in the chime of every clock,
futility is found inside the knock.
Seeking shelter from the chill,
for where hope is weak there's will.
A desire to endure beyond it all,
step into the stumble, break the fall.
Can you hear the door slam?
every bit of who I am.
Never more awake in my surrender,
buried in this heart so I'll remember,
this flame that dwindled, to an ember.
